My Story...

17 years ago I would have never thought that I would end up on national television shows and traveling around the world to perform and train students. Let me start from the beginning...

How It All Started...

I was probably in the same situation you are currently in when I first wanted to learn how to dance...

I wanted to learn but, I didn't know where to start. I was honestly to intimidated and scared of the thought of stepping into a dance class in fear of being embarrassed or feeling left behind.

NO ONE wants to feel like that!

Instead, I decided to purchase some VCR tapes (yes, this was before the glorious invention of Youtube) to teach myself at home and somehow figured out enough to get by. Granted, teaching myself would end up being a blessing and a curse but, more on that later.

After learning what I felt was enough through these video tapes I finally felt confident enough to start dancing in front of people.

Little by little I would find my confidence and end up enjoying this new found confidence I had when it came to not only dancing but also in my life.

What I Learned Through My Dance Journey...

Believe it or not, I am actually a bit of an introvert (although my friends and family would tell you otherwise)

Before I started dancing, I didn't have much self confidence when it came to putting myself out there. I guess you could say I was a bit of a "wallflower" even when it had nothing to do with dance

Once I learned how to dance, I started to slowly step out of my shell and was becoming more and more comfortable putting myself in the "spotlight"

Not only was I able to now dance and express myself on the dance floor but, I was now comfortable stepping into new situations or events and have a great time approaching and meeting new people.

This transformation was truly eye opening to me. I mean how could one thing, change who I am as a person?

This discovery is what has motivated me to share not only my knowledge of dance steps, movements and choreography but, also how dance can help you build your self confidence and change your life on and off the dance floor.

My Mission For Teaching...

My main goal for each and every one of my students is to...

01

Help them achieve their personal goals when it comes to learning how to dance

This is accomplished by...

  • Teaching them the "need-to-know" steps and movements to build a strong foundation for each dance style to make learning dance easier
  • Combining movements into short combinations or drills so they can master the movements and also confidently combine them with other movements
  • Training specific movements or combinations the student is hoping to achieve through small progressions so the student can reach their goals quicker and more efficiently without feeling overwhelmed or discouraged
02

Help them build their self confidence on and off the dance floor

This is accomplished by...

  • Having the student "freestyle" a movement or step so they can see how they can use a concept on their own without any guidance
  • Giving the Student an opportunity to complete the combination or drill on their own without needing me guiding them through it
  • Encouraging the student to record themselves completing a movement or combination so they can see the progress they are making
