Tips for the 4 Basic Footwork Positions:

1)Neutral/Zero Position

  • Have your knees pointing diagonally or at a 45 degree angle
  • Don’t slouch/round your back forward, keep an upright position
  • Try to sit on your heels or at least have your hamstrings resting on your calves

2 and 3) One Leg Out, 1 Leg In

  • Keep knee that is tucked in pointing at a diagonal or at a 45 degree angle
  • Get comfortable putting the leg that is out in different positions/angles

4) All 4’s/Frog Stance

  • Keep your legs wide to have a solid base
  • Keep legs slightly bent with knees pointing towards the center
  • Keep hips level with the floor
  • Distribute your weight equally between your arms and your legs

Tips for the Eagle Grip:

  • Most of the pressure will be on the top of your hand, fingers, and thumb
  • You will feel the majority of pressure on the middle top part of your hand and thumb
