The "Salsa Step" is very similar to the "Kick" step, but now you will utilize your hips to add a little bit more style to your "Kick" step.
Some Tips for learning the basic Toprock, the “Salsa Step" or the "Salsa Rock”
- After you kick to the front you will switch your feet instead of just placing your foot down like the "Kick" step
- You will twist your hips when you switch your feet after the kick
- Twist your hips in the direction of the leg that just kicked (e.g kicking with your right, twist hips towards the right)
- To help twist your hips, point your knee at a 45 degree angle when you switch your feet
- To create more of a snap during the step out/untwisting of the hips, turn your knee of the center/base leg towards the direction you are stepping
- To add the “Groove”, remember to rock back on the whole counts and reset/rock forward on the WHOLE counts
