Tips for mastering the Headstand

  • There are 3 points of contact: Top of Head and both hands
  • Create a triangle on the ground with your head as the tip and your 2 hands as the base corners
  • Align your hips over your head before kicking off
  • Spread your fingers apart and grip the floor for better control and balance
  • Flex everything when you are at the peak of your freeze
  • Extend/expand your body away from the ground vs. crunching/collapsing into yourself
  • Practice different leg positions (tucked, open, closed and scissors)

These tutorials are meant to help spread the knowledge I have been fortunate enough to come across throughout my years of dancing. By no means is this the only way to teach or learn how to dance, but this might be one way that helps someone further understand the art of Breakin'. To keep with the positive spirit of the dance community, all negative comments towards other people will be deleted immediately.
