Tips for mastering the Headstand

  • There are 3 points of contact: Top of Head and both hands
  • Create a triangle on the ground with your head as the tip and your 2 hands as the base corners
  • Align your hips over your head before kicking off
  • Spread your fingers apart and grip the floor for better control and balance
  • Flex everything when you are at the peak of your freeze
  • Extend/expand your body away from the ground vs. crunching/collapsing into yourself
  • Practice different leg positions (tucked, open, closed and scissors)
